Whale Watching & The Imagine Peace Tower

10. Oct - 8. Dec Daily About 11 hours Ægisgardur at the old Reykjavik Harbour Very easy

This tour delivers the ultimate Icelandic experience with an exciting afternoon of whale watching, and an evening visit to see Yoko Ono’s Imagine Peace Tower on Videy island, just out from Reykjavik.

The day starts with an afternoon whale watching, leaving from Reykjavik Harbour at 13:00. The whale watching tours mainly focus on the area of Faxafloi bay, although this can change according to the weather and the tours may therefore last anywhere between 3-5 hours. The most common species to be spotted on the whale watching tours are Minke Whales, White-Beaked Dolphins and Harbour Porpoises, and although sightings are never guaranteed, success has been high on previous tours.

After the whale watching tour, there is enough time to walk around the Reykjavik Harbour area and even enjoy an evening meal before the second part of the journey starts. Upon arriving at the peaceful and quiet Videy island, you will have a guided walk to the Imagine Peace Tower and learn about this magnificent work of art. The tower was built by Yoko Ono in memory of her husband John Lennon as a representation of world peace. The view of Reykjavik by night certainly does not spoil the overall experience, and with any luck, the northern lights may even appear.
