Our journey starts with a short and easy hike on Solheimajokull glacier, followed by a leisurely stroll along the black sand beach at Reynisfjara, known for its impressive basalt rock formations known as ‘Reynisdrangar’. According to Icelandic Folklore it’s said that the rock columns were once Trolls who tried to drag ships ashore, but were turned to stone by the sun’s rays.
Next we’ll visit the picturesque Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss watefalls, at Skógafoss you can ascend a staircase to the very peak of the waterfall and take in the stunning view from above, where you’ll be able to spot the infamous and now in-active Eyjafjallajokull volcano that made worldwide news when it erupted in 2010.
