This combo self-driving tour is perfect for those who want a unique experience during their visit in Iceland.
The Reykjavik Whale Watching Tour starts at Ægisgarður pier, located at the Old Harbour in downtown Reykjavik. A guide will meet you in the Whale Watching Center, which is based on board an old fishing vessel that’s permanently docked at the pier. Before or after the whale watching tour you can enjoy the on-board multimedia exhibit that includes images, videos and fun-facts about the whales and local marine life of Iceland.
The summer season is great for whale watching in Reykjavik, as the wildlife activity in the bay is at its peak. This time of year is your best chance at spotting the majestic Minke whales, along with the white Beaked Dolphins, Harbour Porpoises and Humpback Whales in their natural environment.
Next up is the Silfra snorkeling tour.
On the tour, participants will be guided through the four parts of Silfra fissure, The Big Crack, Silfra Hall, Silfra Cathedral and Silfra Lagoon, all whilst floating between the Eurasian and American continental plates.
Silfra is filled with glacial water that has been trickling through underground lava for approximately 30 years and the water is therefore very clear, resulting in an exceptional visibility of around 100 meters.
Snorkeling in the slight current of the freezing cold water and above astonishing colors give a unique perspective of Iceland that should not be missed.
