Whale Watching & Northern Lights

1. Sep - 15. Apr Daily About 5-7 hours Reykjavik Old Harbour Very easy

The Whale Watching & Northern Lights Tour allows you to enjoy two of the most popular wintertime attractions in Iceland in one combined trip, whale watching in Faxafloi Bay, followed by a Northern lights tour later in the evening.

This tour is offered in two parts and starts with the whale watching tour at 13.00. This is on most occasions in Faxafloi Bay, although it can be in other locations due to weather and visibility conditions. The most common sightings are of White beaked dolphins, Harbour porpoises, and Minke whales although the cetacean abundance is unpredictable and varies with the food availability around the shores.

After exploring the wonders of the whales and the wildlife in Faxafloi bay, the boat returns to Reykjavik harbor, about 3-5 hours after the departure. The Northern lights tour is after dark, allowing for some time in between to rest or to grab a bite to eat. The Northern lights tour starts at 21:00, allowing for optimal viewing conditions, under the dark skies of Faxafloi Bay.
