Sea kayaking is an exciting way to explore Iceland from an entirely new and unique perspective. The tour departs from the historic harbour in Stykkisholmur, a lovely little village on Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Stykkisholmur is located in Breidafjordur Bay, known for its many small islands and varied wildlife, making it an excellent location for sea kayaking.
Your experienced guide will take you along the beautiful coastline which provides views of stunning basalt rock columns, cliffs, and many remote islands. With the abundant wildlife in Breidafjordur, you’re likely to see seals and puffins, and if you’re lucky you might even spot some whales!
The groups for the kayaking tours are small, making the tours beginner friendly. Participants are shown the basic techniques for sea kayaking and the kayaks are stable and easy to use, so no kayaking experience is needed. The guides will be ready to paddle with you and are always in reach if anything should happen or if you simply have a question about the scenery.
This tour is an excellent reason to visit Stykkisholmur and a good way to add some outdoor excitement to your travels, whilst enjoying the stunning surroundings of Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
Please be ready at Stykkisholmur harbour at least 15 minutes before departure.
Please wear warm undergarments (fleece/wool sweater), don’t wear cotton garments, and remember to bring a change of clothing.
Please note that the sea kayaking tours are dependent on the weather forecast and sea conditions and could be cancelled or changed at short notice. Should the tour be cancelled, you will receive a full refund.
