Northern Lights on Videy Island

1. Oct - 14. Mar Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun About 2,5 hours Reykjavik's Old Harbour Very easy

Enjoy a magical Northern Lights tour on the quiet and peaceful Videy Island, just a brief 20 minute boat ride away from the city lights, making it a prime location to enjoy the Aurora Borealis.

The trip departs from the old harbor of Reykjavik to Videy Island, which has been uninhabited since the 1950’s, which means a large part of the island is free of light polution, making it an ideal location to enjoy the Northern Lights.

Videy is also home to Yoko Ono’s Imagine Peace Tower, an outdoor art installation that was created in memory of her late husband John Lennon. It consists of a tall tower of light, projected from a white stone monument that has the words “Imagine Peace” carved into it in 24 languages.

The tower can be viewed from the 360° panoramic viewing platform, alongside great views of the glittering Reykjavik skyline, Videy and surrounding mountain ranges.

This intimate tour is a good bet for a successful Northern Lights hunt, as well as viewing the Imagine Peace Tower, Esja mountainrange and Reykjavik skyline via boat.
