This Lava Tunnel Tour takes place in Raufarholshellir lava cave which is conveniently located only about 45 minutes drive from the city centre in Reykjavik. The cave is estimated to be about 5.200 years old and a staggering 1.360 meters (3000 ft.) long.

The part of the tunnel where the tour takes place has a footbridge and impressive lighting which makes this tour more accessible than others. The total tour is approximately 2.5 – 3 hours with one hour in the cave.
Pick up starts up to 30 minutes before scheduled departure time so please be ready outside your hotel / guesthouse accordingly.
The pickup is operated by Reykjavík Excursions and the bus is marked “Tour Pick Up”.
Please bring warm clothes and sturdy shoes.
