Golden Circle & Lava Cave Exploring

All year Daily About 8 hours Your hotel / guesthouse in Reykjavik Moderate Min 10 years old

Experience an unforgettable day in Iceland by taking part in an underground lava cave exploring tour, as well as visiting the most popular sites of the Golden Circle; Gullfoss Waterfall, Geysir Geothermal Area and Thingvellir National Park.

Depending on the season, the trip starts with a visit to Gjabakkahellir or Leiðarendi lava cave. This is an impressive  underground caving adventure that offers a valuable insight into how Iceland was created by volcanoes.

Afterwards, the tour continues towards the Golden Circle, starting with a stop at Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s true wonders. From there onward the excursion heads towards Geysir in Haukadal. The geothermal area is home of the erupting geyser Strokkur, where waters bubble and erupt from the ground, as high as 24 meters.

The final stop is at Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site and the home of the oldest parliament in the world.  It is here that the tectonic plates of America and Europe meet as can be seen in the visible rift through the valley.
