Embark on an exciting glacial adventure and sail among the breath-taking blue icebergs on this Glacier Lagoon tour.
This day-tour is about 14 hours long and will take you from the capital all the way to the beautiful south coast of Iceland, where you can explore the always-shifting glacial landscape.
On this extensive tour you’ll be able to take in Iceland’s natural, untouched beauty, as well as many famous landmarks.
The tour stops at several thrilling destinations, but the boat ride on Jökulsárlón (Glacier Lagoon) is definitely a highlight.
Being amidst the stunning blue and white icebergs, just off the Diamond Beach (which gets its name from the unique black sand and sparkling icebergs), is an experience you’ll never forget.
Pick-up from accommodations and special Tour Bus Stops in central Reykjavik is between 07:00am and 07:30am. Then the buses meet at 10-11 Kringlan and the tour departs from there at 07:30.
1. Stop at Hvolsvöllur for 15 minutes-
Here you can purchase a small breakfast if so desired and use the bathroom before we set off to our first attraction of the tour.
3. Stop in Freysnes for 40 minutes-
Here you can take in the majestic mountain and glacial views, or enjoy some food at the popular restaurant.
4. Stop at Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach for 90 minutes-
Here you can walk on the beautiful Diamond Beach and get up close and personal with the Glacier Lagoon. The 30 minute boat ride is definitely a highlight of the trip, don’t forget your camera!
5. Stop in Vík í Mýrdal for 45 minutes-
The tiny village of Vík has only around 300 inhabitants, but it’s still one of the biggest settlements for miles. Here you can take a short walk to the beach to see the impressive Reynisdrangar rock formations, explore the village, or have a delicious dinner in one of the restaurants.
6. Stop at Seljalandsfoss Waterfall for 20 minutes-
Here you can marvel at the 200+ foot waterfall, but be careful, you might get wet! If you’re lucky, on a good day you might be able to see the Westman Islands (Vestmaneyjar) from here.
7. End of the tour at Skógarhlíð 10-
After drop-off we will head off to our base at Skógarhlíð 10.
