The volcanic eruption in Fagradalsfjall began on March 19th 2021, after a few weeks of near-constant earthquakes in the area, and the lava field is still fresh, still steaming, and (in some places) still hot!

This tour will bring you to where the lava flow has reached lower ground, so it is now easily accessible by foot and no hiking experience is necessary.

Maybe if you’re lucky you’ll find some volcanic rock to take home!

Good to know

The hike to the lava is about 15 minutes each way over uneven terrain.
We recommend to wear hiking shoes and bring wind/water repellent clothing
The tour is subject to change based on the lava flow from the eruption.
Tour departure point: Bus stop 6 which is close by from our Gray Line Sales office at Hafnarstræti 20 is the central departure point for our tours.
Pick up from hotels, guesthouses and designated bus stops starts 30 minutes before the tour departure time stated on your voucher.
