The South Coast and Glacier tour takes you on a hike on to Solheimajokull Glacier, as well as visiting some of the most popular sites of the South Coast. During the tour, you will see the incredible waterfall at Skogar and Seljalandsfoss, as well as the stunning scenery of the South Coast.
The first stop is at the rugged Solheimajokull Glacier. Solheimajokull is an outlet glacier, that flows from the main ice-cap of Myrdalsjokull, where Katla Volcano rests. You will be given special crampons for your shoes, and a certified glacier guide will lead you on to the glacier. Once there, you can explore the amazing cracks, crevasses and abundant ice, and enjoy some time on top of an Icelandic Glacier.
The next destination is the stunning Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most famous attractions. To get a different perspective, you can take a walk behind the waterfall, and look through the wall of water. Last, but not least is a visit to Skogarfoss Waterfall. There, you can climb up the hill to see the majestic 60 meter high waterfall from above, and witness the water plummet down.
In order to reach all of these incredible destinations, the tour will make its way through fertile farming land and pass by small villages. The area is known for its Viking history and heritage, guarded by Eyjafjallajokull and Hekla Volcano. On clear days you will have a great view of the Westman Islands, known for their volcanic activity and stunning beauty.
Pick up from hotels / guesthouses starts up to 30 minutes before scheduled departure.
The weather in Iceland can be unpredictable, so please dress in warm and waterproof clothing. We recommend a waterproof jacket and trousers, hats and gloves and sturdy walking boots.
Please note that for the crampons, you need to have at least shoe size 35.
For the in-bus audio guide, we recommend you bring your own headphones, but these can also be purchased during the tour.
