The Sólheimajökull Glacier Hike take place on the south coast route in Iceland. The tongue of the glacier extends from the great Mýrdalsjökull glacier, down to the sandy plains of the Icelandic south coast. The spectacular surroundings are marked by rugged and majestic rock formations shaped by Sólheimajökull glacier.
On this safe and easy to moderate glacier walk you get to explore the wonderland of ice sculptures, ridges and deep crevasses on the Sólheimajökull glacier. While enjoying all the features of the glacier and its spectacular surroundings, you will learn more about the behavior of glaciers and their impact on nature. No glacier hiking experience or technical requirements are needed for the tour as an experienced glacier guide will go through all the basic glacier equipment, such as crampons and an ice axe which are provided on this glacier walk.
Please bring warm clothing, rain gear, hiking boots and lunch.

Meeting point: Parking area in front of Sólheimajökull glacier 20 minutes before departure.
Duration: 3 – 3.5 hours in total, about 2 hours on the ice.
