Golden Circle & Glacier River Rafting

15. May - 30. Sept Daily About 11 hours Your hotel / guesthouse in Reykjavik Easy Min 11 years old

This Golden Circle day tour presents an impressive combination of sightseeing and action, where participants have the opportunity to go glacier river rafting in Hvita River, as well as visiting the landmark sites of Geysir Hot Spring, Gullfoss Waterfall and Thingvellir National Park.

The adventure starts with river rafting down Hvita river, where a perfect balance of beautifully steep canyons and pumping waves set the scene for the day. Upon reaching Bruarhlod Canyon, the more adventurous participants have the opportunity to jump into the river from the surrounding cliff. Afterwards the option of a warm shower and sauna is a welcoming finish to the glacier river rafting tour.

The first stop on the famous Golden Circle is at Geysir Hot Springs. There the original erupting “geyser” and its smaller counterpart Strokkur can be seen in action, bubbling and bursting hot water, as high as 25 meters. Thereafter the journey heads towards  Gullfoss waterfall, one of Iceland’s most spectacular sight where water rushes down three steps of lava rocks.

The final destination of this action packed Golden Circle tour, is at Thingvellir National park. This is a UNESCO world heritage site and the birthplace of Althingi, the oldest parliament in the world. Thingvellir exhibits many geological wonders as it lies in the tectonic rift valley between America and Europe and is surrounded by beautiful volcanoes created from the ongoing tectonic drift.
