The Golden Circle Express tour is a fantastic way to see the world famous erupting Geysir, the magnificent Gullfoss Waterfall and the stunning area at Thingvellir National Park, all in just six hours. The Golden Circle tour includes a minimum stop of 30 minutes at each one of the locations, and is therefore great for those that wish to visit these popular sites, within a slightly shorter time frame.
The first stop is at Thingvellir National Park. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the founding place of the oldest existing Parliament in the world. Once you arrive at the stunning landscape in Thingvellir, you can follow in the footsteps of the Vikings, when walking down the lava canyon where the American and Eurasian continents meet. This is where the huge tectonic plates of America and Eurasia are drifting apart, with the rift valley visible before your eyes. Thingvellir is also the home to the largest natural lake in Iceland, Thingvallavatn Lake.
Afterwards, the tour continues to Geysir Hot Spring area, the home of the original geyser and one of Iceland’s most famous natural attraction. At the Geysir hot springs, you can see the ground vibrating, with steaming hot water erupting regularly from Geysir’s counterpart, Strokkur.
The last stop of this Golden Circle Tour, is at the awe inspiring Gullfoss Waterfall. At Gullfoss, the glacial river flows down 32 meters and into a narrow canyon with a thunderous roar. This massive and powerful waterfall allows you to witness the power of nature and is a great finish to this compact and action packed day.
Pick up from hotels / guesthouses starts up to 30 minutes before scheduled departure times.
