Glider Adventure Flight

Season: 1. May - 30. Sept Operates: Daily Duration: About 2 hours Departs from: Bláfjöll area near Reykjavik Difficulty level: VERY_EASY Minimum age: 14 years old

Tour description
€375 per person

This adventurous Glider Flight is perfect for those who enjoy adrenaline filled activities, and offers a unique opportunity to see the Icelandic volcanic craters and lava fields from a birds eye view.

Once the Glider has been towed aloft by a powered aircraft, it relies on thermals or ridge soaring to stay airborne. Gliders have an excellent glide range and can reach a top speed of up to 280 km/h. Silently soaring above the rugged landscape of the Icelandic lava fields is an out of this world experience. It gives an excellent view of The Blue Mountains area and the abundance of volcanic craters.

During the Glider Flight, you can see how the once flowing lava is now frozen in volcanic veins across the ground. The view to the West is of the Greater Reykjavik area and the Atlantic Ocean, and to the East The South Coast can be seen, stretching down the horizon and towards the famous Eyjafjallajokull. To take the Glider Flight experience on a higher level, you can ask the pilot for some aerobatic moves, or you can just make the most of peacefully soaring over the beautiful Icelandic landscape.
