ATV and Glacier Lagoon Kayak

May-Sept Daily About 5,5 hours in total Arcanum Base at Myrdalsjokull Easy Min 8 years old

On this meet-on-location combo tour, you visit two popular South Coast attractions, but in a unique way. Your first excursion is an ATV/Quad-bike ride on the black lava sands of Sólheimasandur. You will meet your guide at Mýrdalsjökull Base Camp, where you will receive all the necessary gear and get a brief safety lesson, before heading out to the black beaches on your quad bikes.

You get to take in some amazing views of the glaciers and vast beaches of the South Coast, before visiting the famous Sólheimasandur DC-3 Plane Wreck. From there, you will head toward the Jökulsá river, descending from Mýrdalsjökull glacier, explore the canyon a bit and test yourself with some river crossings, before heading back to the Base Camp.

After the snowmobile tour, you must travel on your own to our Sólheimajökull Base Camp for the Kayaking by Sólheimajökull glacier. You will get detailed driving instructions on your voucher if you book the tour. Once there, you will meet your kayaking guide who equips you with a dry suit and other necessary kayaking gear. He will also demonstrate to you the proper kayaking technique for your beginner friendly sit-on-top kayak. When everyone is ready, you push away from shore and start to explore the majestic icebergs that have calved off the glacier. Your guide will lead you around the lagoon to admire the glacier, its icebergs, and the steep cliffs of the surrounding mountains, from a perspective the can only be seen from the lagoon. After approx. 90 minutes of paddling, you head back to land.
